he did not mingle with guests. none of the celebrities/members did except for Cheryl Hines and i don't understand why with events as exclusive as this. it's not like it was full of fans, but rather members of the organization that he is involved with and was invite only.

so we did the next best thing; we took a picture with his picture.

good observation; bad inference

11:36 PM
It was past our bedtime, somewhere around 3am that we finally made it back. and in the silence, he looked at me ponderingly, deciding whether or not he should say what was on his mind.

Say it.

"The faces of your friends are always changing," he finally stated bluntly, like it was a crime to have a constantly revolving social circle. i felt this terribly urge to suddenly have to explain myself. I wanted to say, I'm not fake or superficial... I'm just friendly to everyone I meet...I don't mean to... but I get to know people and...

Instead I settled for, "I welcome everyone into my life with open arms. Some stay, some go. The good ones, they always last." and since I always meet so many new faces, I have more chances of finding the good ones than most.

I knew what it was though. He couldn't trust as easily. He couldn't be as open to newcomers.

Why is it that I always meet or manage to fall behind the walls of those who constantly put them up?

I don't mind being a sole confidante. Rather, anyone would feel special to have someone so reserve open up to them. But I sometimes conjure up resentment in them. It's like they hold it against me that I've discovered them finally. I've figured them all despite all the noise.

But I felt guilty when I was accused of having too many transient relationships.

Why should I apologize for being the way that I am?

I once met someone presumptuous enough to come into my life for a brief second and have the audacity to proclaim, "Look at all the faces that come and go in your life. You don't know how to make lasting friendships. You constantly burn bridges." I wish it were that simple. And maybe it is because she was starting to realize that she wasn't one of the good ones.

invincible

3:11 PM
I want to be. To not care how others treat me. I try to listen to Epictetus, but he only makes me apathetic and that does not work if you were born to be passionate.

Passion usually attracts equally strong emotions back, and I was getting sick of the drama. So sick, that in an effort to keep the peace, I kept quiet. Then my dreams turned on me, and it was hard to have a quiet night. I had lost my voice. So I had forgotten who I was. In trying so hard to appease everyone else, I had suppressed the very thing that made me me.

So it's that time once again, to rediscover who I am. And these moments come in cycles.

They came numerous times during college, then after. After a break up, after finally accomplishing a long term goal you set for yourself.

I'll paint a whole new picture of who I am all over again. I'll learn how to be invincible in the process.

Skin Care Testing: Skin Care Rx's Beauty Cache

11:38 PM
After 4 nights without showering at Coachella this past weekend, you have no idea how delighted I was to come home to a package from Skin Care Rx called the Beauty Cache, full of amazing samples of their more expensive brands. They had contacted me last week offering to send me a package, and I responded, not putting too much weight on it. It all seemed to good to be true. So when the package arrived, I was pleasantly surprise.

There was so many wonderful items inside and when I looked up the prices, reviews, and description, I knew it wasn't just regular drug store items.

You can get your very own Beauty Cache for $29.95 here.

So here is what I tried out so far and what I think of the items.

Phloretin CF - Full size price $150
Description from SkinCareRx: Support the strength of your skin with SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF. It combines potent antioxidant power with cellular renewal and collagen synthesis for a younger-looking and brighter face. The lightweight serum conquers damage without irritating your skin in the process.

Ideal for those with sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation who want even-toned, smooth, and soothed skin.

Phloretin inhibits age spots and elastin-loss and is also anti-inflammatory. Ferulic Acid fights free radicals and reduces oxidative stress when coupled with Vitamin C. Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) increases collagen production and lightens and brightens the skin
.

My Review: There's a slight odor that comes from this product. It doesn't smell like a synthetic chemical of any sort, just really potent concentration of stuff (you know what i mean? lol). I put two drops into my palms and patted the product into my just-washed face. It absorbed immediately and dried right away. I just used it this morning so results are inconclusive.

I'm currently using: La Mer Radiance Infusion Serum. How this compares: You can only use this product in the morning apparently. I didn't see much of a difference in results when I used La Mer, which was a bit thicker and smelled like wet grass. It had the consistency of egg whites and the same sort of drying feeling as if you were to put egg whites on your face. I think I like the Phloretin CF better because there is no dry tightening feeling to it as it dries. After apply this serum, I put on my regular daily moisturizer which is Dermalogica Active Moist.

Juara Rice Facial Cleanser - Full size price $25
Description from SkinCareRx: Breathe life back into your skin with the skin-softening formula of JUARA Rice Facial Cleanser. It's like a blast of cooling freshness as is cleanses, softens, smoothes, and hydrates the most dry and discolored skin. By adding protection against future moisture loss, it's a hassle-free fix for all your skin care troubles.

Rice Starch adds essential moisture to hydrate, soften, and soothe dry skin. Glycol Stearate creates the smoothing texture that aids in balancing and softening skin.

My Review: I love this face wash! It's gentle and 100% vegetarian product. It even removed my waterproof mascara (Chanel Inimitable) which most the face wash that I've tried fail to do. My face felt soft and cleansed. This is after I returned from a 6 hour flight from California, mind you, so my pores needed a good cleanse. I am a big fan of any natural product that doesn't use harsh chemicals, so this one is a big thumbs up. I think I found my new face wash.

Description from SkinCareRx: Who has the time - or the stomach - to give their skin all the nutrients it needs to be smooth and supple? MD Skincare Hydra Pure Vitamin C Serum give you the full treatment with a powerful formula of three forms of Vitamin C to firm, tone, lighten, and brighten, while Vitamin E shields your face from future damage.

This potent serum is great for all skin types, especially dry, tired, mature, and sensitive skin. It’s also beneficial for those suffering from hyperpigmentation and sun spots.

Vitamin C treats the water-soluble layers of the skin, treat existing skin damage, and help prevent future damage. Vitamin E acts as a powerful skin-protecting antioxidant.

My Review: This product is recommended for PM use only. This serum felt soooo silky smooth on my skin. It absorbed instantly into my skin, that I forgot I had event put any on. I put this on after I washed my face with the Juara face wash above. It's a lightweight formula and when I woke up, I noticed my skin was still silky smooth.. I do have some hyper-pigmentation from breakouts years ago that haven't gone away so hopefully this product will do the trick. I will continue using this until it runs out and let you know if there are visible results, but so far I really like how it feels on my skin.

What I currently use: Philosophy's Hope in a Jar as a night cream. How it compares: Unlike Hope in a Jar, it does not have that nasty strong lavender scent. It doesn't sting my eyes, nor does it make my skin feel oily. I'm starting to think that anything that you put on your face that gives you immediate adverse results (like oily-ness) is probably not compatible with your skin. Why put up with sub-par results when you can switch to something that works with your skin?

Kinerase Pro+Therapy Advanced Radiance Facial Peel - Full size price $85
Description from SkinCareRx: A professional peel without irritation? It's possible with Kinerase Pro+Therapy Advanced Radiance Facial Peel. It combines gentle lactic and fruit acids with moisturizing Zeatin to transform your skin from blah and boring to lush and alluring. Severe signs of aging, such as deep wrinkles and discoloration will greatly decrease with the simple swipe of a swab.

Even sensitive skin will tolerate this highly effective peel. It works to smooth, firm, and soften skin with fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, and uneven tone.

Zeatin is a powerful plant-derived antioxidant that hydrates the skin and smooths out fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone. Pharmaceutical-grade Lactic Acid exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells. Algae Extract relieves irritation and redness.

My Review: After reading a few reviews after using this product, I realized that the swab falling apart as you use it is natural. Once you know that, you are more careful as you apply this product. I can feel the acids burn into my skin, but a good burn. You know what I mean? That kind of burn that is doing your skin some good. Hopefully after finishing the 3 packs they gave me, I will notice a difference.

Theres so much more, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet, including a skin dietary supplement from Heliocare, an all in one tinted moisturizer from mdskincare, lash extenders from Jane Iredale, micronized mineral sun protection from Sunforgettable in SPF 30...

Notes from Coachella 2010

10:55 PM

I attended Coachella in Indio, California this weekend with 6 others. We camped out, and it was a first for all of us; a first at Coachella and a first camping out in the dessert.

The Bad:
  • Drenched in sweat in the day, shivering cold at night; that's what happens when you camp in the desert.
  • Lines, lines, lines. and more lines. for just about everything; food, bathroom, water, entrance...
  • Lost:
    • 2 sunglasses were sacrificed
    • as well as my new camera that the bf got for me... =(
  • 3 hour shower lines, which means, no showers for yours truly. i'm not kidding when i say we were roughing it
  • phone died after 1 day...
The Good:
  • Got to see:
    • Phoenix, Temper Trap, Passion Pit, MUSE, Jay-Z & Beyonce, MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Little Boots, She & Him, Gorillaz, and Jonsi.
  • Had a backup camera (yay me for over-packing)
  • Above par concession food including fresh coconuts, kettle corn, veggie wraps, and yummy garlic fries
  • Found the best viewing spots on 2nd day, closest to stage with amazing view of band, while still sitting.
  • Once in a life-time experience, probably won't be repeated again in a long time.
  • Came home to a generous gift box of make-up products from Skin Care Rx!

going away soon~

10:21 AM

To the lovelies, I've been kind of absent from this blog, but I'm heading to Coachella in Palm Springs, California in 3 days and will do my bestest to update from the land of the sunnies =)

my path, ever golden, follows the sun

11:16 PM
After the event ended I began to fidget. Aimless, I would rather curl up in bed, doing nothing, than be ambitious.

He sensed my restlessness and maybe it rubbed off on him too. Or maybe we were just synchronized like that. We both wanted to get away. Dig our feet into sand and forget the shape of sky scrapers, if only for a few days.

Coachella next week, and then Puerto Rico.
