the celebration continues...

4:52 PM

after dinner at morimoto's from the night before, my girlfriends met up with me the next day in Central Park to have a little picnic and some champagne. They're not New York natives, so i was very grateful.

yes there was some hula hooping.

Still MORE to come! lol

Amazing Find: Noir Jewelry

9:26 PM
I love statement jewelry. The ones that just pop! The ones where you only need to wear one, and the whole outfit is complete. Look at these rings!

I stumbled upon Noir Jewelry the other day and fell in LOVE. Purchasing a few pieces AS WE SPEAK. I want to be dripping in this stuff. Did I mention the prices are surprisingly affordable? They also carry bracelets, necklaces, and earrings.

I.Need.Everything!

morimotos; birthday dinner

8:32 PM
This is very long overdue. My birthday was a month ago, but I never got around to posting about it. It takes some time to accept the fact that time really doesn't stop, and fighting would just be as fruitless as trying to fly.

The lover took charge of where to take me for dinner and it was a surprise. When he told me it was Morimoto's, I almost jumped up in excitement. OK, I did do a little happy dance...
Having been a fan of the Iron Chef shows, I once told the boyfriend how I envied the judges on the show who get to taste all the delicious dishes. "I want to be an Iron Chef judge!!"

So you can imagine my delight when he took me here to the famous Masaharu Morimoto's restaurant to try their tasting menu or "omakase" as it is called in Japanese.
I've always admired this man. He's very humble at his craft even when he wins. It's part of the Japanese culture not to brag, but to be such an artist and be as humble as he is I can't help but respect him.

We had a 7 course meal, and first up was the Tuna Tartare with 6 garnishes.

Then the fluke:

Then salmon fillet salad.

Foie gras with sea urchin and oyster. This one was my favorite!

Sushi was next. I'm getting full just going through the menu again.

The intermezzo was a house made ginger ale which was surprisingly fresh and light.

And finally, the main course; lobster and wagyu beef.

This is precisely the reason why I've gained so much weight since being in a relationship!
But I'm not complaining.

Keds for Opening Ceremony

9:57 PM

TOLD YOU they were making a come back.

The Sweet Scent of You

10:39 PM

My girlfriend recently introduced me to Bond No. 9 fragrances. I know I'm a little late into the game on this one. I practically tried every scent and the sales assistant was so patient with me! I specified that I wanted something "floral & springy & fresh" and about 10 minutes later, my nose fell in love with "West Side." It's the most subtle sweetest scent that hits you like an after taste after you've sniffed in. There was a hint of rose and I am the biggest sucker for anything infused with rose.

Description:

West Side: Music to your Nose. You've heard the West Side… Now Smell it. (Bond No. 9’s West Side, that is.) A melodious full-bodied coloratura perfume, with dark-light, high-low, sweet-sharp floral and woody notes.

Notes: Rose, ylang ylang, peony, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, musk

I love that each fragrance has a unique New York inspiration, making the wearer unique as well.

Perfume smells differently on every person because they each play differently on our own personal pheromones, so the chemical reaction will always create a scent that is all our own. The key is to find one that is compatible with you and your personal scent.

Gear Up; Where the Wild Things Are

10:33 PM

Urban Outfitters has Where the Wild Things Are gear on their site. Get in the spirit!

p.s. the soundtrack is amazing. It's done by Karen O. from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
It brings out the kid in you.

weekend warrior

7:10 PM

Last minute shopping at Urban Outfitters, after getting my hair done at Immortal Beloved, before a party at the Mandarin Oriental. More on that later.

Wearing vintage Lacoste shorts, Yale Tshirt, and Ray Bans.

My sister gave me those shorts when I came to visit her in France 2 years ago. She said they don't fit her anymore, having given birth to a beautiful vivacious little Frenchmen.
They run a little bit short, and if I bend over it would be quite inappropriate. Yet I still had to find a way to pay homage and decided this weekend was the weekend to brave them out.
This picture made me realize one deficiency in my closet: Keds.

I predict they will make a comeback.

paris hilton and I have the same taste? say it aint so

10:14 PM

Tried this Sheri Bodell dress on at Atrium a few weeks ago in NoHo and decided I would never have an occasion to wear it or be bold enough to wear it out. But Paris Hilton recently did! We certainly do not have the same taste, thank goodness. I'd never wear the collar like that, and pair it with much edgier heels (gladiators or something with studs...more rock and roll).

Spotted Marchesa Silk Organza Dress on Gossip Girls Tonight!

5:47 PM
I lusted after this dress recently, and looks like Gossip Girl likes it too!

Remember these Zanotti's? (aka Birthday Sex Shoes)

5:40 PM
I posted about these Guiseppe Zanotti's a while back when I spotted them in Jeremih's "Birthday Sex" video. Those shoes do scream sex, but they cost $925.

Luckily, I was browsing through Ninewest.com and spotted these Joely shoes. They're on sale for $130. Eagerly awaiting their arrival in my mailbox.
